Tutors: Michael Fields, Ansy Boothroyd, Robert Hammersley, Steven Rickards

This class will continue in the way it ran in 2011, since we now have more Tutors working on it (including a lutenist). It will be possible to work on music composed from early times up to 1759 (incl. Bach & Handel). Singers will submit a list of 3 songs/arias, which should include at least one Lutesong, one Aria with obbligato (Oboe, Violin or Flute), and one other item. David Hollingum will return as resident oboist, and it is hoped to have a violinist available on some days, too.

Michael Fields (lute) and Ansy Boothroyd will prepare a perrformance of excerpts from Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, using the Novello edition edited by Anthony Lewis
