Mini-AIMS at Burgess Hill: April 14 -18

In 2010 we will be holding our MINI-AIMS in a lovely new venue in West Sussex. These Non-Residential sessions will take place at Burgess Hill School for Girls, with selected AIMS Tutors; working on OPERA ARIAS, ART-SONG, ORATORIO ARIAS, LIGHTER SIDE items and music of your own choice (see below).

Students should bring 2 Songs or Arias to work on each day. Classes run from 10am – 6pm.

  • Wednesday 14th April is OPERA ARIA day
  • Thursday 15th April is ART-SONG day
  • Friday 16th April is ORATORIO ARIA day
  • Saturday 17th April is LIGHTER SIDE day
  • Sunday 18th April is “ANYTHING GOES” day – also Audition Day for the AIMS Summer course

  • OPERA : anything written for the stage from Handel, via Grand Opera, to G & S
  • ART-SONGS : German Lieder, English 20th century song, French Mélodies, etc.
  • ORATORIO: can also include EARLY MUSIC by Monteverdi, Purcell, Schütz etc.
  • LIGHTER SIDE : including Operetta, Victorian Ballads, Musicals, Music Theatre
  • “ANYTHING GOES”: bring whatever repertoire you want to work on.........

There will be a Tea-Bar serving light refreshments, drinks, and snacks throughout the day.
The school is walking distance from Burgess Hill Station on the Victoria-South coast line.

Auditions for major roles in the Summer Course take place on Sunday 18th April, 10–6pm.

FUND-RAISING CONCERT

There will be a concert in aid of AIMS Bursary Fund by “The Sopranos” – six singers who came on bursaries to the 2009 summer school, between 6.30 – 8pm on Sunday 18th April at the close of the masterclasses and auditions. Price £8
